HOKULE'A RETREAT
Hokule'a Retreat is a 5 acre, rural property 1 mile from the ocean on Poihiki Road, Puna District, on the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Carved out of old sugar cane fields, this area is a thousands year old lava flow with a gentle sweep down to the sea. Nature and greenery is all around with a beautiful view of the ocean off to the east and the snow capped volcano, Mona Loa in the rear . At night if the wind is right, you can hear the surf lapping at the shore.
Rental housing on the Hokule'a Retreat property consists of the main house, which is called the Bamboo House and a smaller ohana next to it. We sleep 6 - 8 people.
BAMBOO HOUSE
The Bamboo House is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, home with a full kitchen, living/dining space and open loft set up in the soaring second story space. A gorgeous wrap around lanai with 2 staircases lead down to lush gardens surrounding the houses.
The living/dining space is surrounded in the front by floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors with a panoramic view of the lanai and the grounds on down to the beautiful, blue Pacific.
The full kitchen is equipped with new refrigerator, gas stove and a deep ceramic sink. Small appliances include a coffee maker. Beautiful bamboo cabinetry houses plenty of pots, pans, utensils and dishes to prepare and serve full meals for up to eight people.
The loft space overlooks the living/dining area and is used as a recreational space with a large sectional couch and big screen TV and VCR. Also with a sweeping view of the ocean in the distance. You can also sleep 2 or 3 people up there with 2 twin air mattresses that are provided for you.
The ensuite master bedroom has a king size bed. Sliding glass doors lead out to it's own private lanai with views of the grounds and Mona Loa in background. The attached full bathroom with tub and shower is shared.
The second bedroom has a queen size bed and also has it's own, private lanai.
OHANA
The ohana is one large room with a airy, high ceiling that can be used for privacy and retreat or as a third bedroom. It has a half bath, queen size bed and a lovely wrap-around lanai.
OTHER INFORMATION
Towels and linens are provided with your rental.
The property is rented to only one group at a time so you will always be the only people there.
Between both houses we sleep 6 people in beds and 2 on twin air mattresses for use in the loft space for a total of 8 people.
